The Exwell Wireline Liquid Seal Stuffing Box is used to seal around a slickline while minimising drag and wear of both the slickline and the packoff when it is necessary to perform wireline work under well pressure. The sheave assembly allows the line to be guided in its travels from the wireline unit into and through the Stuffing Box Body. Placed at the uppermost point of the Pressure Control Equipment string, the Liquid Head consists of two major subassemblies, the hydraulic stuffingbox and flow tubes assembly. The Stuffing Box is meant to pack-off around the slickline when stationary. When the line is moving the seal is achieved by injecting various viscousgrease into the flow tube stack at a pressure above wellhead pressure. Theflow tubes are closely fitting around the slickline, and the grease seals-offeffectively the narrow annular space. The wireline passes through the packing in the Stuffing Box Body; thepacking nut is then hydraulically activated or manually tightened sufficientlyto minimize leakage around the wireline.A blow-out plug is situated in the lower section of the body and in the eventof wire failure the plug will automatically seal off well pressure to thesurface. The hydraulic packing nut is recommended for use during remoteoperations.
