It is a tool often used prior to running or pulling asubsurface control device in order to assure the operator that the tubing is clear down to the point that thesubsurface control device is to be run.The Exwell Gauge Cutter-Ring Type also can be used as a paraffin, wax or scale cutter and is used in conjunctionwith a jetting nozzle to gauge the tubing after jetting in one operation.The tool is simply a two piece design that allows a selection of different size skirts to be run on a commonmandrel. A large flow-by area provides sufficient by-pass for removed deposits. A large flow through boreallows flow activated or jetting tools to be run above or below the gauge cutter.
