The Exwell Hydraulic-Set Retrievable packers are designed to be set by pressuring up thetubing string against a plugging device below the packer.The Exwell Hydraulic-Set Retrievable packers lock-set mechanically using spring-loadedinternal slips. A lower set of mechanical slips holds the packer set against downward forcesand an upper set of pressure actuated button slips holds the packer set against differentialpressure from below. The packers are released and retrieved bya straight upward pull on thetubing string.To Set The Packer: The Exwell Hydraulic-Set Retrievable packers is set by picking up, rotatingto the right and then slacking off on the tubing. Set-down weight closes and seals the by-passvalve, sets the slips and packs-off the Packing Elements.To Release The Packer : Picking up the tubing releases the Packer (no rotation required).When the tubing is raised, the by-pass valve opens to permit circulation through and aroundthe PackerWhen the tubing string is raised the full length of the Packer, the J-pins (on the bottom sub)are oriented for automatic re-engagement. By then lowering the tubing slightly, the J-pinengages the J-slot thus assuring complete release and preventing accidental resetting whileretrieving the Packer.
